Jocelyn Eve Turnquist was born Monday, December 29, 2008 at 3:05pm! We arrived at the hospital at 3am, and I got the epidural around 3-4 cm (I believe it was around 9am). I thought I'd gone to heaven! When she was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck but the doctor was able to cut it off right away.
The doctor placed her on my chest as soon as she was born, and after a few minutes Mark took her and the staff started cleaning her up. Then I realized I forgot to check to see if it was indeed a girl (and nobody announced it when she came out), so I yelled to Mark, “is it really a girl? Is it really a girl?” I thought that was kind of funny. She was 7 lb 10 oz and 20 inches long.
Her Apgar score was 8, 9. Grandma and Grandpa Simmons were there and we got to spend lots of time together before moving to our recovery room.
